The international service-learning experiences offered by the School of Education provide students with a unique opportunity to engage in volunteer activities and service in accordance with the Christian spirit of service to others and the Social teaching of the Church. These programs help equip our students with attributes that go beyond excellent disciplinary expertise and/or technical knowledge. International service-learning fosters skills, values and characteristics that enable students to connect with and serve the community through active participation, engagement and reflection.

The immersion programs offered by the School of Education provides educational experiences which are integrative and transformative and encourage students to develop solidarity with people worldwide and the Christian spirit of service. The experiences enable students to understand different perspectives and cultures. It encourages students to become more aware of their unconscious beliefs and expectations, to recognise those of others and to critically reflect on both. The service-learning immersion programs foster critical reflective thought, empathy, problem solving skills and deeper awareness of the unity of mind and soul.
